The Congressman’s speech was a good way of making the point for health care reform. The debate about this has been filled with such vitriol and misleading information, yet it’s such a no-brainer for the rest of the democratized world.
I just heard today the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office’s cost estimates for the bill that’s being introduced in the Senate right now–averaging $85 billion a year, while saving about $13 billion a year off the deficit due to reduced waste in Medicare. Rep. Grayson compared the deaths from lack of health insurance to those dead in Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s interesting that $85 billion a year was also the approximate cost for the war in Iraq for the first six years, all piled onto the deficit, yet Senators were happy enough (97-3) to jump into that situation without batting an eye or even doing the math.
And that kid–! So brilliant and courageous. I hope he doesn’t get discouraged being bombarded by ignorance. (”Gaywad”?) I’m glad at least his dad seems supportive.

I like Grayson. He seems to be among the few liberal democrats unafraid to speak out against the vitriol continually spread by the likes of Beck, Limbaugh, Cheney ad nauseum. Any health bill without a public option for everyone will be a joke albeit a sad one. Merely a gift for the greedy insurance companys.
As for the kid vid, I favor equal rights for gays and lesbians. However, this seems to be a bit of an overreaction. Cant help but wonder how much he may have have been influenced by his elders.
Finally, do you remember the Jane Fonda or Carmen Electra workout videos? How super it would be to have a Beautiful, Superior Miss Nikki vid. Just kidding. hmmm sort of.
